Ever since then, he has developed a strong interest and passion in edible insects.
Insect Food Pte Ltd was established by Javier Yip upon reading the news that Singapore will soon approve 16 species of insects for human consumption.
Joined the Asian Food and Feed Insect Association (AFFIA) and Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS)
The Brand “Insect Yumz” was launched and Insect Food created history by becoming the first organization in Singapore to import edible insects for human consumption.
On 8th August 2024, Insectyumz became the first seller of edible insects in Singapore, following the approval of dried mealworms by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) after rigorous testing.

Obtained trademark approval from the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS).
On December 13th, 2024, Insectyumz launched its 25g Dried Mealworm Snack across all 76 Sheng Siong stores. This marks the first time in Singapore’s history that edible insects for human consumption are now available on supermarket shelve
On January 23rd, 2025, Insectyumz launched its second flagship product, 35g Tom Yum Cricket Snack across all 76 Sheng Siong stores.
On February 15th, 2025, Insectyumz provided edible insects to Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel for their Phuket Flavourscape Buffet, marking the first time a hotel in Singapore has included edible insects on its menu.
On May 19th 2025, Insectyumz launched its 35g Tom Yum Cricket Snack across 76 Fairprice stores, including Fairprice Xtra, Finest and Supermarkets.
