🦗 The Future of Food is Here: A Sustainable Showcase with NUS! 🌏
We are still buzzing from an incredible presentation earlier this month! 🚀
At InsectYumz, our mission has always been to redefine sustainability through edible insects. But seeing that mission brought to life through the fresh perspectives of the next generation of leaders is truly something special.
A huge shoutout to Marc Ransom and his talented team from the National University of Singapore (NUS)! 🎓 They recently wrapped up a deep-dive project on InsectYumz, exploring everything from our market innovation strategy to the disruptions and risks of the alternative protein industry.
🔍 What They Uncovered
The team didn’t just look at the “what”—they looked at the “how.” Their presentation covered:
- Market Analysis: Navigating the landscape of Singapore’s first and largest edible insect brand. 🇸🇬
- Innovation Strategy: How we can continue to scale products like our Tom Yum Crickets and Cricket Powder. 🍜
- Creative Solutions: Fresh recommendations on how to bridge the gap between “ick” and “yum” for consumers. 😋
📈 Why This Matters
As Singapore approves 16 species of insects for human consumption, the conversation is shifting. Marc and his team highlighted a fascinating reality: many of us already consume trace amounts of insects in everyday items like coffee, chocolate, and pasta! ☕🍫 The real challenge—and opportunity—is moving toward intentional consumption for superior nutrition and planetary health.
A big thank you to group members Marc Ransom, Chen Ruowei, Huang Weijia, Jiang Yan, Nur Syaheeda Binte Ismail, and Teo Jie Ying.
Your hard work, analytical rigor, and passion for sustainability are exactly what the food tech industry needs. 👏
We are incredibly proud to see InsectYumz used as a case study for academic excellence at a world-class institution like NUS. The future of sustainable protein looks bright (and very tasty)! 🐜✨
