8th August 2024 – We’ve done it once more! After 16 long days of rigorous inspection and testing by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), we’re thrilled to announce that our edible insect, mealworms, has been approved for sale!
Within an hour of receiving approval, we quickly sold to our first client, Singapore’s homegrown ice cream parlor Tom’s Palette – The Ice Cream Shop.
Insectyumz – Insect Food Pte Ltd is honoured to be the first organization in Singapore to legally sell edible insects for human consumption approved by the SFA.
We are currently offering 500-gram quantities of mealworms to our commercial clients, such as restaurants, cafes, and hotels. Individuals who are interested can also purchase from here:
With our mealworms now confirmed as 100% safe for human consumption, we’re working diligently on our retail packaging to get it into stores as soon as possible.
It’s been a fantastic start and an auspicious occasion, with the sale taking place on August 8th at a retail price of SGD 88 (8888)
